This month is quickly drawing to a close but it’s not too late to get your hands on some of the hottest new releases. These are my personal favorites this month.
The Spy and the Traitor:
The Greatest Espionage Story of the Cold War. By Ben Macintyre. The story of Oleg Gordievsky, considered the Russian counterpart to Kim Philby, the infamous British double-agent. His initial position for the Russian intelligence was in 1968. Ultimately, he became the top spy in London for the Soviet Union. However, from 1973 on he was actually working for MI6.This is a fascinating read and superbly written.
Magic Hour
By Kristin Hannah. Written by the best-selling author of The Great Alone. The book is set in the Northwest. In the midst of a deep forest a mysterious six-year-old girl shows up and nothing is known about her. She doesn’t speak and nothing is known of her background. Dr. Julia Cates is a child psychiatrist. She does her best to liberate this intriguing child from a prison of unimaginable isolation and fear.
Golden Girl
By Elin Hillerbrand. A novelist from Nantucket has one last summer to hide her deep secrets from others. If you like beach reads then this one will not disappoint. The characters and setting are outstanding. Hard to put this one down.
USS Hamilton Ironhold Station
By Mark Wayne McGinnis. Military sci fi meets space opera in this one. A great mix of action and humor. The characters are muti-dimensional and the plot twists are very creative. A first-person story that needs to be read.
